This is a great starter kit. The first thing you will want to do is to buy a few higher quality brushes. The included ones work fine for big blocks of color but not for fine lines and detail Note that additional brushes may not fit in the little box so if you have a choice go for the shorter handle choice. I found that I used the white up quickly so a bigger tube of white is a good idea too. The box itself is nice. I found myself using everything in it, even the challenging brushes. Oil painting supplies are expensive so this was certainly worth the price.Good set for beginners or people who want to get to know oil painting. However the quality of the brushes are really bad hence the 4 stars only. The paints are really good.This set is a great start for beginners. I would recommend that the seller include a small bottle of Liquin instead of linseed oil. Linseed oil is great only if you want your paint to stay wet for weeks or even months to prolong working time. Also, the type of brushes included are too coarse to get a smooth brush stroke. If youre a beginner, Id recommend investing in a small bottle of Liquin and a cheap set of brushes if you plan to paint often. Otherwise this set is a good to get into oil painting.DEFINITELY for beginners! Paint not the best quality, but daughter has fun with it. When using with included linseed oil, mixture of equal parts made paints unable to dry for over a week. They are STILL wet, 10 days later! So, beware how you make the primer mixture.Cute little box, with cheap cheap plastic inserts. Very small bottle of oil, and paints, but paints are decent. Without primer mixture, paints smudge off after dry. So, be careful with these.Brushes are great. Palette knife is plastic. Didn't see a need for pencil, eraser, or sharpener, so I removed those from the kit.I love this beginner's set!I bought one for me last year. I wanted something really simple and nice in order to start painting. Best decision ever! This set is complete with everything a beginner needs and its products are very good for the price I paid.I bought a second one as a gift for a friend this year and I highly recommend it anyone who is just startingPurchased as a gift for my girlfriend that loves painting with oil. I read the reviews on this and it seemed pretty solid and has everything she needs for a set. Upon first use, she washed some of the brushes and one fell completely apart. Mine just may be a fluke but I guess at the end of the day you get what you pay for. Probably better to purchase a good set of brushes and paint separately. Giving it two stars because it does come with a lot of things.Good productWhat you get for the price is fairly good value but I agree with other comments about the brushes. They are just no use for painting at all so make sure you buy a separate set. They are quite stiff but separate instantly when you try to paint so you cannot get any precision at all. It took me ages and a lot of patience to get any sort of discernable line. There is such a humongous amount of products on offer in terms of paints, brushes, oils, from cheap to very expensive that I decided to go with the cheap option and just try it out. Experience in other media has tought me that you don't need the expensive stuff if you're just starting out and, frankly, don't know what you're talking about yet.The set has everything you need to get going - brushes, paint, oil. Now that I have a little experience with oils, brushes and oil painting, sure, I see the brushes could be a little better and the paint is a tiny bit oily, but the point is that is that this is a 'good vaulue' set for beginners. It got me off to a good start just fine and I'm happy this set me off on my oil painting journey.Despite the reviews this is not a good set. Please do not give these as a gift for a beginner or child - it will put them off oil painting for life which would be a shame. The brushes supplied are so coarse it is just not possible to paint with them - the paints are so so, the two supplied painting surfaces are tiny post card size and the instructions - well there are no instructions of any mentions.On the plus side it does come in a nice wooden box and some refined linseed oil both of which are useful.This is ok but its cheap, and it sort of feels cheap too - if I'd seen it in an art shop I probably wouldn't have bought it, especially as the bottle inside had leaked all over itself in transit to me and made a mess. Its also confusing because its marketed as water based oils - I didn't really know what that meant, and hoped it would be paints that had the same or similar qualities to oil paints but were water based making them easier to clean up and thin down etc. However, don't be confused by the marketing description - its a plain error or at worse a deception - these are just cheap oil paints...Everything you need to get startedGreat kit to get you started or just to try oils to see if you like them.
